Conservation Renewable Energy Whats New Energy Education

PROBLEM:
Few activities have caused environmental degration more than the energy we use.  Locally, at least 72% of our electric power comes from burning coal.  In the process, the following are emitted from our power plants ( in pounds per year ):

Sulpher     130,300,000
Arsenic              4,800
Barium            700,000
Chlorine            70,000
Chromium          70,000
Cobalt                2,500
Copper             28,000
Fluoride           115,000
Lead                  3,500
Manganese        64,000
Mercury                  59
Molybdenum        1,800

Nickel                          8,700
Selenium                        950
Zinc                           15,500
Vanadium                  34,000

CO2               6,500,000,000
Nitric oxides 28,000,000,000

   Yup, 34.5 billion pounds of
 greenhouse gases each year

Solution:     Conservation and cleaner sources of energy !
Nationally, it is estimated that 30% of the energy we use is actually wasted.  They means you are paying for 30% more energy than you get a benefit from.  Check out our lengthy list of energy and resources savings tips
